Breakfast in Freiburg im Breisgau

Sunday morning. Earlier this year. Germany. Medieval city gates. Cobbled Streets. Empty. Little runnels alongside. Used as water supply as early as in the 13th century. A city seeming asleep. Freiburg im Breisgau. Sunday morning.

Being a tourist. Aimlessly wandering around. Enjoying the quietness. Timbered houses. Beautifully worked bay windows. Click. Click. Click. All these photos. Bicycles parked in the alleys. Next to runnels. In runnels. Cobbled streets. Small houses. Simply drifting along. Window shopping. Being a tourist.

Time for breakfast. Hungry stomach. My eyes open for a nice place. Wandering around. And there it is. Right in the city center. A spacious square. Augustinerplatz. Tables and chairs outside. Big umbrellas. Light filled interior. Wooden tables and benches. Fresh German bread. A variety of bread spreads. Cheese. Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Tea. Cakes. Yoghurt. Specialties for sale. manna – Die Spezerei. Augustinerplatz. Freiburg im Breisgau. Time for breakfast.

Rucola-Topfenaufstrich. Rocket-curd spread. Dark bread. Freshly baked. Bread I miss in Switzerland. Breakfast. So simple. Happy. Energized for more sight-seeing. Note to myself: “Should try to make at home.” Rocket-curd spread. Rucola-Topfenaufstrich.
